A to Z databases is a directory and marketing database that includes 30 million businesses and 240 million residents. It is ideal for sales leads, mailing lists, market research, job searches, and finding friends and relatives. You can email, print, or download results. There is a limit of 1000 downloads per search. Listings are updated regularly.
Accessing A to Z Databases
To access this resource, you can click the link above or head to colonielibrary.org/research and click the link there. If you are in the library, you will be taken right to the start screen. If you are accessing it from home, you will need to enter your Colonie library card number before the start screen will appear.
Searching A to Z Databases
At the top of the screen, you see three search areas. Select the appropriate search depending on the information you’re looking for.

To do a simple search, enter your search terms and click the appropriate search button. Note that the “Find a Job” and “Find a Person” boxes have two tabs that show different information. Click the blue tab to see the hidden information.
Each of these search types has an advanced search option. Click that to enter more/different information than the basic form allows.
Mailing Lists, Sales Leads, and Special Searches
Below the search area pictured above, you will find a specialized search section for finding bulk records. Each includes a sample report to see if it’s what you’re looking for. Click “Get Started” on any of these topics to run a search.
