Make Your eBook Easier to Read with OpenDyslexic Font

If you use the Libby app to read eBooks, there is a hidden feature that can make it even more enjoyable. For those who struggle with dyslexia, Libby has a font option to make reading easier. It’s called OpenDyslexic.

Comparing Fonts

For comparison, the standard font is used on the left. The right side shows the same text using OpenDyslexic font in the same font size:

Even without dyslexia, many folks find OpenDyslexic easier to read – especially with tired eyes.

Change to OpenDyslexic Font

To use this font, you will need to set it once for each eBook you check out in Libby. Here’s how:

  • With your eBook open, tap the center of the page to reveal the top menu
  • Click on the “A” in the top menu to open font options
  • Scroll down and select “OpenDyslexic” from the “Book Design” section
  • Note that brightness options may also help readability

Exit the menu by tapping the screen outside the menu and enjoy your book! If this font isn’t for you, you can switch it back by following the same steps and selecting “Publisher’s Default” under Book Design.
