While many platforms have activated their AI features by default, Apple Intelligence is one of the few platforms that makes it easy to opt out of their AI – known as Apple Intelligence.
iPhone/iPad
To turn off Apple Intelligence on an iPhone or iPad:
- Open your Settings app
- Scroll down and select Apple Intelligence
- Tap the switch to turn it off
- Confirm by tapping Turn Off in the pop-up window
This will disable Apple Intelligence, along with proofreading, suggestions, and summaries that it supports.
Mac
To turn off Apple Intelligence on a Mac:
- Click the Apple icon in the top left corner of the screen
- Select System Settings
- Select Apple Intelligence
- Tap the switch to turn it off
- Confirm by tapping Turn Off in the pop-up window
Turn off Apple Intelligence in Specific Apps
Some folks may want to keep Apple Intelligence for some apps, but disable it on others. To do so, open Apple Intelligence settings (as explained above) and select App Permissions. Select an app and then tap the switch to turn off Learn from this App. That will turn off Apple Intelligence for that app only. Repeat on any other apps you’d like to turn off.
