If you are a fan of ebooks and audiobooks, you may already be familiar with Hoopla as a way to enjoy them, as well as comics, music, and video. If not, check out our intro post about the Hoopla platform. Each patron is limited to five Hoopla checkouts per month, but the last seven days of every month bring Bonus Borrows – a chance to enjoy even more content. Bonus Borrows don’t count against your monthly limit.
What’s the Catch?
Not all Hoopla titles qualify as Bonus Borrows. Each month, Hoopla designates a portion of its content for this purpose. If there isn’t anything on that list that interests you, there’s the catch. Otherwise, you can borrow as many Bonus Borrows as you’d like during the last week of the month, even if you have used all of your checkouts for the month.
How Do I Find Bonus Borrows?
To access the titles from the Hoopla Digital app:
- If you are using the Hoopla Digital app on your phone, on the “My Hoopla” tab, scroll and click the blue “Hoopla Bonus Borrows” icon. From here you can filter and sort according to your preferences.
- Alternatively, if you are using the Hoopla Digital app on your phone, on the “Books” tab, select your preferred material type (Audiobooks, Comics, Ebooks) at the top, scroll and click the blue “Genre and Collections” icon, then you can select any of their featured Bonus Borrows Collections.
To access the titles from the Hoopla Digital website:
- If you are logging into your Hoopla Digital account on a computer, you will need to click “Browse” and then select your preferred format (Ebooks, Audiobooks, Music, Movies).
- Scroll partway down the page and select “Genres & Collections.” Under Collections, the first list is Featured Collections, which includes a few of the Bonus Borrows collections. Scroll down further to “All Collections” to see all of the Bonus Borrows collections.
