How to Use Newsbank to Create Lesson Plans

If you teach in a school or at home, you may be interested in a special feature of Newsbank, the platform that provides our online newspapers. Did you know they provide lesson plans based on daily headlines? You can learn more about Newsbank from this earlier post.

How Do I Access Newsbank?

You can access Newsbank (America’s News) by going to colonielibrary.org/research and selecting America’s News. If you are not on the library’s network, you will need to enter your Colonie resident library card number for access.

To get to the lesson plans, click on “Daily Headlines and Lesson Plans” under the Quick Links heading.

You will be taken to a page with today’s top headlines and a related lesson plan. Click any title to view the article. To see more lesson plans, click the “view all lesson plans” link above the list.

The lesson plans archive has a search feature and filters to help you find the subject you’re looking for.
