Self-Service Faxing Is Now Available

If you’ve used the library’s faxing service in the last few years, you might agree that the process was a bit cumbersome and required extensive staff involvement. At a busy information desk, it could lead to long waits to scan, send, and confirm a single fax.

While some libraries have stopped offering fax service, it was important to us to continue. Given the number of medical and legal transactions that still require faxing, it is clear there is still a need for this service in the community. After exploring a number of options, Fax24 was the best fit.

About Fax24

Fax24 has been providing secure fax service to libraries for decades. As patrons’ needs have changed, Fax24 has adapted. Paper confirmations are out in favor of an online fax status page accessible from any device. Text message notification is also available for a small fee. The service is HIPAA compliant, and your documents never have to leave your sight for scanning. Credit or debit cards are used to make payments.

The Basics

  • 20-page limit per fax
  • $1.75 for the first page, $1 for each additional page. Blank cover pages are available, but they are not free to send with Fax24
  • It does not handle double-sided faxes, so you may need to copy alternate sides of the document before sending
  • A confirmation (or failure) notice is available via text message (for a small fee) or on their website. If the fax fails, the card is not charged
  • No cash option is available. Credit or debit cards only

The Process

  • Place documents face down in the feeder
  • Pick up the handset and choose fax or scan to email. Press 9 to get prompts in Spanish
  • Enter the destination number with area code (without a 1 at the beginning), then #
    • She reads it back and asks to confirm or edit
    • Confirm
  • Enter the credit/debit card number, then #
    • Optional – enter phone number for text confirmation
    • She reads it back to confirm
  • Confirm your documents are in the correct position
  • Press Start. When you hear the tone, hang up and wait for the fax to complete
  • Get text confirmation(s) and/or check u.faxscan24.net/status using the destination fax number and card number used. You can also resend, delete, or print your fax from this page

And that’s it! Next time you have a fax to send, stop by and give Fax24 a try.
