How to Make a Meme

I love a good meme. Especially one that hits home like it was made about me. If you’re unfamiliar with the term, a meme is basically a picture with funny text added. In its purest form, a meme is an image where people add text, usually humorous, and share it with others. Often, that same picture is set with different text by different people. Here are some popular examples:

Disappointed Pakistani cricket fan with text "when you asked for a PS5 and you got socks and a book."
Disappointed Pakistani cricket fan with text, "When you get 2 unskippable 15 second ads on YouTube."
Monkey puppet side eye with text, "when somebody gets in trouble for the same thing you just did"
Monkey puppet side eye with text, "when you run into someone you know from school outside of school"

Meme Generators

You don’t need to be a graphics whiz to make a meme, you just need to know where to look. Here are a few sites that make meme generation easy. You can use the images they provide or upload your own to add text.

The interface is different for each of these sites, but in general, you select an image and then add text to the top, bottom, or both:

When you’re done, click the link to generate the meme. Then right-click on the resulting image page to save it for sharing.

After you download your meme, share it widely. Who knows? Maybe it will go viral!
